Poem by Patricia Usiobaifo, Women’s Apostolic Alliance member
This is a poem that offers a glimpse of who God is to me and how I have experienced His merciful love.
As I sit here in nature watching the world pass me by,
In my mind I hear the echoes of peoples’ questions over time.
“Why do bad things happen to good people?
Why are the lives of the young and innocent cut short?”
I don’t have the answers to these questions sometimes asked and often thought.
The only thing I know for certain
Is that God has a perfect plan
For every soul; every being
After all God created man.
His plan is to see them reconciled to the Father
To fulfil their destiny and call;
To be conformed to the image of Jesus,
Peace, liberty, eternal life for all .
But that is God’s perfect plan
And sadly we don’t always agree
And He also gave us freedom of choice
So ultimately it’s up to you and me .
We can choose God’s ways, His wisdom, and His Word
Or we can follow our hearts, our desires, the ways of the world.
We are free to accept
We are free to reject
We are free to do as we please .
The only truth I can share with you Is what He has done for me.
He called me, redeemed me, set me apart;
Delivered, healed, and restored my heart .
He showed me through His love that I have great worth.
He speaks truth into my Spirit and revelation through His Word.
My God is gentle, kind, and tender;
He is faithful, He is perfect love .
There is nothing and no one that compares to Him,
Not in this world, nor below, or above.
He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning, and the end
He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah
He is Abba Father, Sovereign God,
King of Kings and yet … He is my friend.
