Part 3. Choosing to believe there is total healing in Christ and learning to appropriate it.
In Parts 1 and 2 we spoke about the importance of believing that The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God and it is our job to choose to believe and bring our thinking and will in line with it.
We also need to choose to believe that there is total healing – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual because of the power of Christ’s death and resurrection.
Most Christian churches have taught the importance of the cross. That it is central to Christianity. It is the power of Christ’s death and resurrection that makes Christianity different from every other religion!
True Christianity is relationship with a living God!
But what most churches haven’t taught is how to appropriate the power of the cross to walk into freedom. So, most Christians are still limping along wounded.
They are still operating out of rejection, fear of further rejection, self-rejection, fear, anxiety, guilt, shame, poor self-image, wrong mindsets etc.
It was for freedom Christ came.
Galatians 5:1
Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
Most Christians are not free!
There is a war on between God and Satan. Both want ownership of us. Wounded soldiers aren’t much good on the front line. That is where we are meant to be!
God created each person a one-off, unique in His image to represent Him in a way no-one else can. He has a purpose and plan for each person’s life and He had given us the gifts and characteristics to fulfil that plan and purpose.
Psalm 139:13-17
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they were all written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet were none of them. How precious are Your thoughts to me O God!
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
God has a purpose and plan for everyone’s life, but Satan also has a plan to abort that plan of God. The earlier that he can wound or bruise a person he will. He is a saboteur, an abortionist, a murderer and a thief.
John 10:10
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill and to destroy. I have come that they might have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
If Satan can even bruise a baby in the womb, he will.
If the mother is suffering from rejection, fear or shame etc., a baby’s spirit can pick that up. The enemy then compounds that time and time again.
But Jesus was wounded that we could be healed.
Isaiah 53:3; 4-5
He is despised and rejected by men. A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
Surely, He had borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Jesus laid aside the glory that He had with His Father in heaven and took on human form. He still was God, but He was also fully man.
He experienced grief, pain, rejection, fear, betrayal by one of His own disciples, abandonment, every form of abuse and trauma beyond what we could imagine as a man.
He can identify with us when we have experienced these things! He experienced these things and overcame them so we can be free of these, when we identify with His death and resurrection.
